“Everyone pulls together”

Career

As a long-​time employee, Nico­lai Münz­may has already expe­ri­enced quite a bit. Much of it directly with us. Read the excit­ing answers to our ques­tions here.

What was your career like so far?

I com­pleted my tech­ni­cal appren­tice­ship as a com­mu­ni­ca­tions elec­tron­ics tech­ni­cian at AVAYA. Over the time, I accom­pa­nied var­i­ous large projects there and thus devel­oped in the direc­tion of sales. In 2011, I started work­ing at IPD as the first Pre­Sales employee. Over the years, I have taken on more and more tasks, includ­ing team lead­er­ship of the Pre­Sales depart­ment from 2017 to 2020. Since its dis­so­lu­tion in 2020, I have been respon­si­ble for var­i­ous spe­cial tasks.

How did you find your way to IP Dynam­ics?

An employee from the sales depart­ment of IPD approached me at AVAYA at that time. I found it inter­est­ing to start at a com­pany that places more value on cus­tomer focus than on inter­nal fore­cast­ing.

What is your area of respon­si­bil­ity?

I pri­mar­ily sup­port our account man­agers, but in recent years I have also taken on increas­ing respon­si­bil­ity for some cus­tomers myself. My tasks include con­sult­ing, gath­er­ing cus­tomer require­ments and then, in con­sul­ta­tion with the account man­agers, prepar­ing pro­pos­als and pre­sent­ing the solu­tions to the cus­tomers.

In addi­tion, I am involved in some spe­cial tasks, such as the cer­ti­fi­ca­tion of our solu­tions at Microsoft or tasks from our prod­uct board. In phases, there are always smaller or larger tasks that are impor­tant for the com­pany or espe­cially for sales.

What has been your biggest chal­lenge so far at IPD and how did you over­come it?

At the begin­ning, I had to cre­ate my work­ing envi­ron­ment. At that time, there was no stan­dard pro­ce­dure at IPD for cal­cu­lat­ing quo­ta­tions. So I first had to cre­ate the appro­pri­ate tools. Since I was given the free­dom to choose the pro­ce­dure, I have cre­ated a cal­cu­la­tion tool over the years that has been refined again and again and is now used to cal­cu­late prices for offers very quickly and eas­ily.

How do you like the cor­po­rate cul­ture?

Some­times things get a bit hec­tic. That’s why it’s good that every­one pulls together when it mat­ters. You can rely not only on the man­age­ment, but also on your col­leagues. Spec­i­fi­ca­tions are not made down to the small­est detail. That leaves room for cre­ative free­dom. This also makes it pos­si­ble to incor­po­rate your own ideas and try them out.

What makes IP Dynam­ics unique as an employer for you?

The great flex­i­bil­ity and the var­ied tasks. For me, it would be very bor­ing to do the same thing every day.
