IP Dynamics at the WPC 2016 in Toronto


Microsoft had announced a promis­ing event in Toronto – one packed with a mul­ti­tude of new prod­ucts – and our Man­ag­ing Direc­tors Chris­t­ian Stölken and Bertram Göhring were there in per­son.

The agenda promised a vari­ety of inter­est­ing con­tri­bu­tions and the focus was placed from the out­set on product-​related news such as the gen­eral avail­abil­ity of Azure SQL Data Ware­house, the new Skype Oper­a­tions Frame­work and one of the most excit­ing announce­ments: an upcom­ing subscription-​based sales model for Win­dows 10 and Microsoft Sur­face via the CSP-​Channel.

Fur­ther major top­ics of inter­est were Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion and Cloud Com­put­ing. Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion opens new oppo­tu­ni­ties: “Oppor­tu­nity means cloud,” is the phrase coined by Gavriela Schus­ter, Cor­po­rate Vice Pres­i­dent World­wide Part­ner Group at Microsoft Corp.. Cloud Com­put­ing changes every­thing: The way we work, the processes we use and the way in which we address cus­tomers. Mar­kets are chang­ing, cus­tomers are chang­ing – and Microsoft and its part­ners are chang­ing too.

All in all: It was well worth tak­ing the long jour­ney from Ham­burg to hear about Microsoft’s strate­gic direc­ton first hand, to meet other part­ners and to sound out new oppor­tu­ni­ties for grow­ing our own busi­ness.
