Time for a changeover

As a full-​service provider, KALORIMETA GmbH offers the real estate and hous­ing sec­tor a net­worked infra­struc­ture for meter­ing ser­vices. The medium-​sized busi­ness main­tains ten mil­lion of its own meter­ing devices and smoke detec­tors, and bills more than 1.6 mil­lion dwellings a year. To ensure its billing experts and cus­tomer ser­vice team are always avail­able, KALO requires a reli­able, mul­ti­func­tional telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions infra­struc­ture.

In spring 2017, KALO decided to replace its old Unify HiPath 4000 PBX, which had been con­nected to a Vox­tron Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Cen­ter (VCC). In close coop­er­a­tion with IP Dynam­ics, the unsta­ble sys­tem should be replaced by a mod­ern, IP-​based sys­tem. The Inno­va­phone VoIP gate­way IP6010 con­vinced in the Proof of Con­cept.
The new sys­tem also needed to be linked to the VCC. In addi­tion, it should allow the inte­gra­tion of ana­log devices (fax and con­fer­ence phones) and offer spe­cific call func­tions. In the future, five com­pany loca­tions should com­mu­ni­cate via the Inno­va­phone sys­tem.

KALO relies on future-​proof tech­nol­ogy

In June 2017 the col­leagues from KALO and IP Dynam­ics started the roll­out of the new sys­tem. The changeover was real­ized with­out affect­ing the ongo­ing busi­ness oper­a­tions. About one year later, the smooth migra­tion at the Ham­burg head­quar­ters and other loca­tions was suc­cess­fully com­pleted. Today, more than 500 par­tic­i­pants are con­nected to the mod­ern Inno­va­phone sys­tem. The cus­tomized VCC is linked to the sys­tem by a tailor-​made V:Server from IP Dynam­ics.

Innovaphone’s myPBX serves as Uni­fied Com­mu­ni­ca­tions client for man­ag­ing var­i­ous tele­phone devices. For exam­ple, tra­di­tional desk tele­phones as well as mobile phones and soft­phones can be eas­ily inte­grated. In Addi­tion to con­ven­tional IP tele­phony, myPBX offers numer­ous other func­tions such as video tele­phony, instant mes­sag­ing, col­lab­o­ra­tion ses­sions, con­nec­tion logs or pres­ence sta­tus. Thanks to the new tech­nol­ogy, employ­ees at KALO now enjoy a much more flex­i­ble way of orga­niz­ing their day-​to-​day work.

Suc­cess­ful coop­er­a­tion

Over­all, the entire project proved an unqual­i­fied suc­cess – not least due to the excel­lent coop­er­a­tion between all involved. “We were impressed by IP Dynam­ics’ very flex­i­ble approach and out­stand­ing exper­tise”, con­cludes Artur Grandt, KALOs IT Project Man­ager. “Our wishes were taken seri­ously and never dis­missed. The cus­tomer is king at IP Dynam­ics – and that’s a rar­ity on the mar­ket today!” The trust­ing and con­struc­tive coop­er­a­tion is also set to con­tinue in the future.
