The stars of tomorrow

The majority of soccer players from the youth teams of the Hamburg national league Dersimspor e.V. has an immigrant background. The roots of the up-and-coming kickers go back to Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Tunisia, Morocco, Togo, Nigeria, Ghana and many other countries around the world. No wonder, after all, the association's young talent work focuses primarily on young people from the so-called Phoenix Quarter, a colorful neighborhood in the Harburg district.

Many of the low-income families living here lack the money to provide their children with equipment or help them with trips away. More than half of parents cannot even pay the monthly membership fee of ten euros from their own resources. This is where Hamburg Sports Youth jump into the breach with their “Kids in the Club” campaign. In addition, the association is also dependent on donations in order to be able to maintain its good youth work. There is no other way to finance jerseys, soccer shoes, expenses allowances for trainers and other things.
