KALO is gearing up for the future

Time for a system change

As a full-service provider, KALORIMETA GmbH offers the real estate and housing industry a networked infrastructure for measurement services. KALO manages around ten million of its own measuring devices and bills more than 1.6 million apartments per year. To ensure that billing experts and customer service can always be reached, the medium-sized company needs a reliable telecommunications infrastructure. In spring 2017, KALO decided to replace the old HiPath 4000 telecommunications system from Unify, which was connected to a Voxtron Communication Center (VCC). In close cooperation with IP Dynamics, the system, which had become unstable, was to be replaced by a modern, IP-based system. In proof of concept, Innovaphone's IP6010 VoIP gateway impressed. The new system also had to be connected to the VCC. It should also allow the integration of analog devices (fax and conference phones) and provide specific calling functions. In future, five of the company's locations should communicate via the Innovaphone system.

KALO relies on future-proof technology

In June 2017, colleagues from KALO and IP Dynamics began rolling out the new system. The changeover was carried out without affecting ongoing business operations. After around a year, the soft migration was successfully completed at the Hamburg headquarters and at the other locations. Today, a total of well over 500 participants are connected to the modern Innovaphone plant. The custom-tailored VCC is linked to the system by a tailor-made V:Server from IP Dynamics. InnovaPhones MyPBX serves as a unified communications client and allows you to control various telephone devices. In this way, conventional desk phones as well as mobile phones and softphones can be easily integrated. In addition to classic IP telephony, myPBX offers numerous other functions such as video telephony, instant messaging, collaboration sessions, connection protocols or presence status. Thanks to the new technology, employees at KALO are now pleased to have a much more flexible way of organising their everyday working life.

Successful collaboration

Overall, the joint project was a complete success — not least because of the excellent cooperation between all people involved. “IP Dynamics impressed us with its high level of flexibility and absolute competence”, summarizes Artur Grandt, the responsible IT project manager at KALO. “Our wishes were taken seriously and were never rejected.
