IT Management & Consulting - what is it anyway?
In the IT Management & Consulting program, you’ll combine technical knowledge with business acumen and consulting expertise. You’ll explore digital technologies, data, and artificial intelligence, and learn how companies can leverage them effectively. In the process, you’ll develop the skills to analyze business processes, evaluate requirements, and help design appropriate IT solutions. This prepares you to work at the intersection of IT, business units, and management, and to drive the digital and AI-powered transformation of companies. After graduation, a wide range of career opportunities will be open to you: in IT management, management consulting, process and project management, as well as in specialized technical and data-driven fields.
What you can expect from us
Your dual study program combines lecture phases at the Wedel University of Applied Sciences with practical phases at IP Dynamics. At the university, you will develop the professional and methodological foundations that you will subsequently apply within the company. Your experience from customer projects and internal tasks will, in turn, help you better contextualize your studies and understand the connections.
The sixth semester focuses on practice: you will spend the semester at the company working on study-related tasks, which you will then evaluate from a scientific perspective. In the seventh semester, you will write your bachelor's thesis and complete your studies with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Theory
During your studies, you will build a foundation in computer science, mathematics, and business, including programming and databases. This technical base helps you understand IT systems and evaluate their application from an economic and strategic perspective.
With courses like "GenAI for Studies and Career" and "Data Analytics in Business," you will learn how to use generative AI effectively and evaluate data for business decisions. Strategic IT management and consulting skills will prepare you to analyze requirements, evaluate solutions, and support companies through change. Other topics include IT security and networked system architectures.
From the fifth semester onwards, you will specialize in one of three areas: Software Design, Data Science & AI, or Sustainability-Oriented Accounting and Auditing. In Software Design, for example, you will deepen your knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software quality. Data Science & AI covers topics such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The business specialization focuses on sustainability-oriented corporate reporting and auditing.
Practice
At IP Dynamics, you will combine technical and business expertise with consulting skills. Working alongside our experts, you will analyze our clients' service processes, gather requirements, and develop approaches for their digitalization and optimization. In the process, you will learn how our software solution, Dynamic Workload, intelligently manages workflows, automates customer dialogues with AI, and supports employees in their tasks. You will assist our consultants in evaluating and communicating suitable solutions and gain experience in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of customer projects. By analyzing project and process data, you will help identify potential for automation and the use of AI.
You will also contribute your own ideas internally: you will participate in projects, further develop methods and procedures, and support the improvement of our processes. This allows you to apply your knowledge of technology, management, and consulting directly and actively shape the future development of IP Dynamics.
