A city relies on Innovaphone

The city of Villingen-Schwenningen has converted its entire telecommunications infrastructure to innovaphone. The modern system has many unified communications functions and enables city employees to seamlessly switch to working from home.
The Baden-Württemberg city of Villingen-Schwenningen has relied on the support and expertise of IP Dynamics for over ten years. After the Hamburg-based IT company took over the telecommunications system from the manufacturer Avaya in use at the time in 2012, the gradual exchange for a new system from innovaphone began one year later.
Since the telecommunications infrastructure of the city of Villingen-Schwenningen covers several locations and properties, the migration to the new plant was carried out gently. Today, the new system is used almost everywhere with over 1,000 connected users. The system comprises a total of 26 schools, 18 kindergartens and seven local administrations. The facilities were connected in very different ways — sometimes via VPN, via a reverse proxy, via microwave or via their own network. This is where the openness of the InnovaPhone plant paid off.
In addition to the system change, the establishment of the myApps unified communications platform has resulted in a number of new features: Employees can now access all UC functionalities, such as telephone conferences, screen sharing and chat. The softphone function of the myApps client also ensures location-independent use and thus allows a more flexible way of working.
Herbert Reser, responsible for network and telephony at the city of Villingen-Schwenningen, is also very satisfied: ”In fact, there was even applause from colleagues as part of an internal meeting following the rollout. Everyone was really excited about the new solution.”
