Thanks to a modern communication solution from innovaphone with an integrated Ascom alarm system, Vinzenz von Paul Hospital employees are always available on the hospital premises.

Being available anytime and anywhere — that is very important for the approximately 1,450 employees of Vinzenz von Paul Hospitals gGmbH in Rottweil. The social charitable institution provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, semi-inpatient and outpatient treatment services for the approximately 600,000 inhabitants of the catchment area between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb. With around 30 buildings, the clinic grounds include specialist clinics for general psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychosomatic medicine, addictive disorders, geriatric medicine and neurology. To ensure that medical staff and other employees can be reached anytime and anywhere on the extensive area, the hospital requires a special communication system. This must also provide employees with safety in the event of certain hazardous situations, such as an accident at work or an assault by a patient.

Switch to all-IP

As part of the project, Avaya's existing telephone system, which is almost 20 years old, was replaced by a modern VoIP solution from innovaphone with an integrated alarm system from Ascom. “With a well-thought-out migration concept, IP Dynamics met our requirement to avoid any downtime at all costs.”, says Dieter Grimm, Technical Director of the Hospital. The new system was rolled out step by step as part of a gentle migration, while the old plant continued to operate on a transitional basis. Unlike the old system, the architecture of the new VoIP system is georedundant and thus protected against possible failures. If, for example, a hospital building is affected by a power failure, the gateway of another building takes over.

You can rely on technology

Today, almost 800 users are connected to innovaphone's VoIP system. The D63 and D81 Protector series DECT telephones provide mobile access to employees throughout the hospital grounds. At the same time, the devices serve as alarm systems. In principle, important alarm messages are sent as text messages and received via DECT telephones. In the event of a personal emergency, employees can trigger an individual alarm. In addition, an internal emergency number has been set up, which can be reached from the entire hospital site. Anyone who calls the extension to report a general emergency (for example a fire, a missing person, etc.) is connected directly to the gate. Colleagues can roughly locate the alarming device and then initiate appropriate measures.
